Next Year's Books

Hey there, girls!

I, for one, had such a great time at Eye's house. The food was excellent and I loved the wine. It's so great spending time with good friends. Next year I think we should do another book club with our husbands again with one change. Let's do it in the summer and have a BBQ.

Here's a list of this next year's books and who is hosting. Can't wait to see you all again in February.

Jay's = "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon
Dee’s = “The White Tiger” by Aravind Adiga
Cee’s = “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle” by David Wroblewski
Eye’s = “The Hour I First Believed” by Wally Lamb
Kay’s = “John Adams” by David McCullough
En’s = “The Glass Castle” by Jeannett Walls

Es, many a glass of wine went up in your honor last night. Miss you and wish you a very happy holiday season!!!

Thanks Kay!

Thanks, Kay, for hosting our the wonderful book club get-together. Always enjoy the cross country trip. I especially loved the coffee mugs.

It was great seeing all the ladies, catching up and making plans for our holiday meeting. (My husband, for one, can't WAIT to join Book Club!)

See you all on November 9th, (most likely at noon.)

Es, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You are the only one of us to finish Mission Song so far. Way to go!

Food & Wine

You know, we always eat well at these book club meetings. I am pretty sure there is a direct correlation between me not being able to shed the baby weight and attending book club.

Here are some recipes I wish the girls would share.

Eye's oriental chicken salad with the noodles & veggies.
Dee's ravioli soup and watermelon sorbet
Es's pesto chicken sandwiches, (yes, I realize you got it from a magazine).
Cee's bean soup with the chunks of sliced sausage.
Kay's quiche (because, remember? I ate the first piece so fast).
Jay's bread with the asparagus.

Okay, ladies, cough up the directions to these fabulous dishes!

Book Club Rules

I love my book club because of the rules.

Book club should be easy! It can be has fancy or laid back as you want it.

No make-up required. And no dressing up, either.

If you don't finish the book, oh well, come anyway.

When it's your turn to host, you can prepare the food yourself, order out, or we can all go a restaurant (where everyone pays for themselves).

We don't pre-read the book. One person chooses the book, making their decision solely by reviews or the back cover. That way it's not your fault if the book is bad.

Only two rooms in your house need to be clean, the room we eat it and the bathroom.

And NO ROMANCE novels.
